An evolving repository of audio, artefacts and experimental interventions, Misc. will release both ‘music’ (in the most expanded sense of the term) and associated artworks/items/objects, and vice versa, with no privilege accorded to any one feature/facet of the process, and no rules as to how, exactly, final results are arrived at (if, indeed, ‘final’ results could be said to be the intended result at all).
Contributors will be free to develop projects according to their own principles, preferences and priorities, free from the constraints of commercial, genre or audience expectations, alone or in collaboration with others (including Misc.’s own internal operatives, who, alongside [some of] those invited onboard, will deploy a string of made-up – and sometimes wind-up – aliases over the course of their operations for the label). No pre-given framework has been contrived, and nothing of the sort will be imposed.
Distribution of audio will be carried out in all cases digitally, on a ‘name your price’ basis, with any additional physical elements priced according to the particular production costs and/or conceptual characteristics of the work in question. Misc. will maintain online presence through its website and accompanying social medias, and will seek to play its part in the exploration of the productive possibilities – and accordant idiosyncrasies/absurdities – of networked technology.
Inquisitive, outward-looking and up for a scuffle, Misc. will engage in non-programmatic dialogue with, and playful critique of, existing schools of thought, modes of production and ways of operating, seeking at all times to be a thorn in the side of official culture, and a vital space for the development of expanded, experimental, atypical and, we hope, enduring art.
An evolving repository of audio, artefacts and experimental interventions, Misc. is a platform for artists, musical or otherwise, to release new/old/alternative/side projects, free from the constraints of commercial, genre or audience expectations.
